The Owner (client): Ministry of Transportation (MoT).
As part of a big project which was to build an industrial city near Damascus. I was involved in designing two bridges, these bridges were:
· Cement Factory Bridge: it was: 3 spans located in skew angle, 2 multi-column Piers and spill-through abutments.
· Highway Junction No. (II) Bridge: it was: 4 spans inverted T sections, three multi-column piers and two abutments. See figure (130) .
My Role in the Project (in Detail):
I was assigned to participate in analysis, design and prepare tender documents of the bridges. I performed the analysis and design of the bridge using influence lines, tables, and charts. I sketched the plans using special millimeter scaled paper and forward them to the drafter staff to complete the designs. The design and drawings were according to Russian Bridge Code SNIP. СНИП2.05.03-94*, fig (131).
