28. The project: Inspection of the Radar building, Aleppo international Airport, Syria. 2001.

Description of the Project:
The Owner (the client): Syrian Aviation Agency, Aleppo Airport, Syria
The building is a skeletal Structure consisted of: reinforced concrete ribbed slab and brick masonry walls; all were supported on the strip foundation. See the Appendix for further pictures.

My Role in the Project (in Detail):
1) I conducted the inspection of the building with my supervisor. All the deteriorations were cracks that had 3 different patterns due to the reason of formation, and they were: settlement cracks, Shrinkage cracks, and differential temperatures cracks, see figure (129).
2) I interacted with some material dealers to find the up-to-date crack injection materials.
3) I submitted the repair procedure, and it could be concluded as follows: Remove the paint layer along the cracks, make groove (V) shape cut, vacuuming, install the venting ports and do the filling/sealing for the nonstructural cracks and the resin injection for the structural cracks.
4) I worked in preparing list of recommendations regarding periodic monitoring for some critical parts of the building, and general routine inspection to maintain the structure.
